The Day Includes

SESSION 1
PEAK PERFORMANCE

Session 1 includes :

Motivation: How you can get motivated to study
Resilience: How to get mentally and emotionally strong
Procrastination: Breaking through procrastination
Goals: How to set and achieve goals by implementing a 4 step goal setting formula
Stress: Dealing with feelings of stress and exam anxiety

SESSION 2
STUDY SKILLS

Session 2 includes :

Organisation: Setting up and managing papers
Time Management: Dealing with assessments and working effectively at home
Study Notes: Making and improving study notes
Study Techniques: Studying using techniques that suit your study style
Exam Techniques: Strategies for excelling in your exams

A Note To Parents

If you would like to attend the workshop to support your child, you are more than welcome to purchase a Parent Ticket. Please be advised that this workshop is tailored to meet the needs of students and we will not, therefore, have the opportunity to address your specific parent concerns or questions about surviving the HSC alongside your son or daughter. Your attendance on the day would be to observe and understand these powerful strategies in order to further support your child.

If you would like to attend a specific parent session to learn ways that you and your child can manage the senior years of school visit the Parent Presentations at Human Connections or Parent/Student Evenings at ELES.

About our Presenters

Rocky Biasi

As director of Human Connections, Rocky Biasi is a classroom management and interpersonal skills specialist with a practical approach to behaviour management.

With over 9 years’ experience as a teacher and Year Coordinator (currently as a school counsellor also in private practice) to every year group from Yr 7 – 12, Rocky has a wealth of experience both practical and theoretical that can help teachers and schools work toward becoming more effective and efficient in their roles.

His extensive training and research from the field of Peak Performance Psychology equips him to consult with teachers and students about how to move from where they are to where they want to be.

Rocky has trained with Steve Wells and Dr David Lake (clinical supervisor) and consults with clients on a range of issues from Stress, anxiety and relationship counselling.

Prue Salter

With over 15 years experience in High School Education, as well as stints in both industry and academia, Prue Salter, the founder and driving force behind ELES, is a high achiever with a string of academic credentials and awards to her name. Her research into how students can unlock the power of their minds translates into informative, entertaining and action-oriented sessions and online experiences for students. Prue has written to date 20 resources for schools to use to help students improve their study skills, manages and develops a study skills website schools subscribe to, and is in high demand to run study seminars in schools for year groups.

As a teacher and Year Coordinator, Prue found that the study skills sessions that were available were either very flashy, but with very little content, or content heavy but dry and dull – ensuring little of the content was actually transmitted to the students! Many speakers who came to schools did not have good communication skills and had difficulty in dealing with the students and connecting with them on their level – much less building rapport.

Being a highly motivated and organised person with the ability to analyse and break down the steps necessary for success, Prue developed a series of dynamic courses that would help students see how they too could improve the way they handle their schoolwork and so their chances of success at school. Prue uses her on-going research to constantly improve the effectiveness of the ELES study skills sessions and resources and has focused in recent years on using technology to bring study skills to life.
